Penn State Women’s Rugby wrapped up the fall season with a great win over West Chester for the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union title. This match, hosted by West Chester was to determine seeding for spring playoffs. Though held off one week and a few hours, the wait proved worth it for the playing conditions. It took some time for Penn State’s intensity to rise, but after West Chester laid a try down in the first half, Penn State showed a beautiful demonstration of Penn State Rugby. The scrumming by Penn State showed off all of the forwards hard work this season, allowing us to create great go forward with wheels and stolen scrums.  Penn State scored continuous tries by both forwards and backs, ending the game with 70-7 win over West Chester and a beautiful trophy. The B-side played afterwards, giving some new players much needed playing time while allowing some other experienced players to take a shot at new positions. Could A-side players Kathleen Shissler and Alyssa Boff threaten to steal the center positions? The team worked as one, and pure aggression helped win rucks all over the field. Daylight cut the game short, but Penn State finished the second game with shutout, 44-0 over West Chester’s B-side! Great finish to the season for Penn State! Thanks to all the parents and fans who came out to support us this past weekend and for the fall season. We can’t wait to see you on the sidelines in the spring!
