After a very hectic week filled with snow and rain, the men took a trip down to Annapolis, MD to take on the US Naval Academy in their third game of league play.  Going into the game at 2-0, both teams were set on securing their perfect record.  As soon as the game started the heavens opened up and the rain started pouring making for less than ideal conditions.  However the nittany lions were able to get on the board first with a try from Dan Metcalf after stealing a Navy line out on their 5 meter line.  However, after a couple failed attempts to clear their line, Navy was able to put in two tries before halftime after Penn State was given a yellow card for a late hit.  The second half was quickly stopped as the rain picked up and thunder was heard.  After the ten minute break both teams came out a little slow, but it seemed as though Navy were able to get back in it more quickly, scoring another try with 20 minutes to go.  Turnovers and dropped balls started to plague the Penn State guys as a combination of their mistakes and Navy’s physical play put Navy over for two more tries.  After having one try called back for a foot in touch, Mike Erickson was able to score one more try at the end to make the final score 29-12.  The loss hit the guys hard and now put them at a disadvantage in the CPD east division, but the season is still young and they get back into action this weekend playing Big 10 rivals Ohio State in Columbus on Saturday.  Every game from here on out is a must win for the guys and so if you are in the area come out and support the guys the rest of the season.
