The men’s team home opener will see them taking on the Dartmouth University rugby team this Saturday in the comfortable (albeit chilly) confines of West Campus Pitch on the Penn State University campus.
Both teams will be looking to improve their records to 2-0 through this important clash in the inaugural season of the Collegiate Premier Division.
The inclusion of Dartmouth into our regional league (as well as Ohio State and Army) is something that we have been working on for some time, and this will be the first such clash of these two storied East Coast programs. Both of whom have been “regulars” in USA Rugby post season play, but in the past have taken separate paths to get there.
“It’s been a while since we’ve played Dartmouth” stated Assistant Coach Terry Ryland, ” they are an excellent rugby team, that is disciplined and well coached, and I’m sure they are looking to make a statement in Happy Valley this weekend”.
Head Coach Don Ferrell added “the (PSU) team had a solid week of preparation, and we made it out of Kutztown last weekend relatively healthy. Everyone is focused on the task at hand, looking forward to playing at home, and excited for this next challenge before them”.
Kickoff for the A side match will be 1:00pm, with the B match to follow immediately afterwards. Please come out and support the team if you are in the area, or able to come up for the day. Although the weather may be a bit chilly, rest assured the action on the pitch will not be!
