With over 30 recruits making the trip to Happy Valley, over 100 attendees at the parents brunch, and victories on the pitch over two league rivals, I think it would be safe to say that the Penn State Rugby program enjoyed a very successful weekend!

Potential collegiate rugby players from all over the country were able to watch the team’s Friday evening training sessions, see the women’s team get honored for their 6th National Championship during a womens volleyball game, experience “college life” with their hosting team members, tour the campus and facilities, receive team and University presentations, and watch two outstanding rugby matches. All feedback was very positive, and judging from the number and “caliber” (HS All Amercians, US Age Grade, All Star, etc.) of the recruits in attendance, clearly the future continues to look bright for both teams.

Saturday morning saw over 100 smiling faces in the beautiful setting that is the Cafe Laura on campus. They were treated to a fantastic brunch prepared by Penn State Student Catering, and were addressed by current players, Team Sports Manager Dayna Wenger, past Alumni Board President and current team member parent Jim Mathias, and Head Coaches Don Ferrell and Peter Steinberg. Judging from the tremendous number of comments received, this latest edition of the yearly event was one of our very best.

Sincere thanks go out to all who worked so hard to make this weekend go off without a hitch, and to all who joined us on what turned out to be a beautiful central PA weekend!
