Each year, the Penn State Winter Clinic prepares hundreds of players for the upcoming Spring season and beyond.  With many high school teams utilizing limited resources and gym space during the winter months, Penn State’s Holuba Hall offers a game-like environment and playing surface for advancing skills and team play.

Set to lead the 2016 Boy’s Clinic is Rugby East Coach of the Year and Penn State men’s head coach Blake Burdette.  On the girl’s side is USA Women’s Eagles Captain and Penn State women’s head coach Kate Daley.

Coming to Penn State from Salt Lake City, UT, Burdette is a former USA National Team member, having represented the Eagles during the 2007 IRB Rugby World Cup.  On his way to earning 13 caps in a USA uniform, the former prop and hooker starred in both football and rugby for the University of Utah.  While with the Utes, Burdette helped the football team win the 2005 Fiesta Bowl title in addition to earning four All-America selections on the rugby pitch.

Beyond his playing career, Burdette owns seven years of successful coaching as well, leading his alma mater and Olympus High School as head coach.  During his tenure at Utah, the Utes won the inaugural Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC) Sevens crown.

Daley brings a wealth of playing and coaching success to the clinic as well.  Captaining the 2014 IRB Women’s Rugby World Cup Women’s Eagles, the Eight has made 21 international appearances to-date.

As a Penn State student, the Mishiwaka, Indiana native won two USA Rugby National Championships with the Nittany Lions, earning Most Valuable Player honors in both matches.  Recognized for her on-field performance, Daley also earned four All-America selections.

In addition to an active playing career, Daley has amassed impressive coaching accolades as well, helping Penn State to its tenth 15s National Championship – fourth consecutive – as well as the teams first 7s National title and third-consecutive CRC crown.

Daley has also served as an assistant coach for the USA U-20s Girls team and Northeast Olympic Development Academy in addition to being included in the USA Rugby Elite Coach Development Pathway.
