The Penn State Women’s team had a long day on Wednesday. The team headed to Venice for a day of site-seeing before heading to Treviso to play Benetton Treviso, the #1 ranked team in Italy. Benetton Treviso is also the top men’s team in Italy and is owned by the clothing company, which means their jersey’s and warm-ups were great!
The team played very well and showed the ability to attack through several phases. However Treviso had 6 Italian internationals and 2 other capped players and turned almost every mistake into a try. The team scored 2 tries through Sadie Anderson and Lauren Poole and despite getting near Treviso’s line several times they could not score again. The final score was 42-12 to Treviso.
The team was hosted at the Treviso Monigo Stadium with a great 3 course meal that had more food than 100 people could eat. The team also traded so much clothing that by the end we were unsure who was on whose team!
