The Penn State Women’s Rugby team, in conjunction with the Men’s team, will hold their annual Recruiting Weekend on October 15-16 at the University Park Campus.  The Penn State Women’s Team is the most successful program in the country, with more National Titles and All-Americans than any other team.  All current High School seniors who are interested in playing rugby at Penn State are encouraged to come.

“The weekend is a great way for recruits to come and get a feel for Penn State and the rugby program,” said Pete Steinberg, the head coach of the 6-time National Champions.  “They will meet the coaches, the team and get a chance to see the campus.  They will also learn about the University, the academic programs here and the admissions process.”

The weekend will start on Friday night, when the women’s rugby team will be honored at the Penn State Women’s Volleyball game against Minnesota for their 2010 National Championship.  The recruits will then get a chance to be part of the evening team meeting.

On Saturday morning the team will get to meet the coaches, listen to a presentation about the rugby program and Penn State University.  A tour of the campus will end at the rugby fields where Penn State will play league rival the University of Delaware.  After the match the recruits will have an opportunity hang out with the team at the post-match meal.

“Last year we had 15 recruits come for the weekend and 9 of them entered Penn State as freshmen this fall,” said Steinberg.  “They are all strong players and many of them have had an opportunity to play A side this fall.  As high school rugby develops, we are getting better players choosing to come to Penn State to play rugby.”

Current high school players who are interested in attending the weekend can complete the registration form at the Penn State Recruiting page:
