The PSU men’s team defeated LSU by a margin of 31-25 today in Marietta, Ga to advance to the next round of the Collegiate National Championships. Down 22 – 7 at the half, the team remained focused on the task, never doubted they could win, and outscored their opponent 24 – 3 in the second half to come away with the victory.
Although we clearly would have preferred to not be in the position we found ourselves, it says alot about this team that they were able to mount the comeback they did against a very solid and determined LSU side.
Several “impact” substitutions were made at the half, and althogh their presence was felt immediately, the tide really turned when the PSU forwards simply took over the match. Their dominant 2nd half performance paved the way for the comeback.
Although disappointed with the fact that LSU was more aggessive in the opening stanza, the team’s ability to make the necessary adjustments, never doubt themselves, come together and dig deep and get the job done will surely prove to be a valuable lesson as the victory earns them a round of 8 date with Cal.
The team came through their tough Saturday match relatively unscathed healthwise ( a broken nose, a few stitches, and some bumps and bruises), and having been able to utilize their depth, to a man are ready, and looking forward to the challenge and opportunity that awaits them.
