UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – Penn State and Pittsburgh came together to play for in state bragging rights at State College on Saturday morning, where the Nittany Lions put up 17 tries on the visiting team. Both teams wanted to use this game to get ready before they start conference play in Rugby East (Penn State) and the Keystone Conference (Pitt) respectively.

The Nittany Lions (2-0, 0-0 Rugby East) got 4 tries from senior winger Mike Eife and outside center Tyler May added a hat trick of his own. In total 10 different Lions touched down on the day.

Pittsburgh (0-1) scored in the 45th minute when their Number 8 broke a few tackles and took it across the line.

Junior scrumhalf Brendan McCabe also registered 20 points on 10 conversions. McCabe was a vital part to the attack today and directed the pattern very well all day.

Penn State will now open up conference play on Friday September 9th at 6 pm against West Virginia on West Fields in University Park.
