Fresh off another highly successful season for the program which saw a 6th National Championship for the Women’s team, their first back to back, and a top 8 finish for the Men’s team, the Penn State Rugby program is pleased to announce July 7th through the 14th as the dates for their 2010 Penn State Summer Rugby Camps.

July 7th through the 11th will be the dates for the Rugby Academy. Building on our highly successful winter clinics for High School girls and boys, this 5 day coed rugby academy accommodates various age groups and skill levels, including beginners, and is designed to help players develop fundamental skills for playing more effectively as individual and team members. Emphasis is placed on individual and positional skills, as well as team skills and concepts.

July 11th through the 14th will be the dates for our first Advanced Skills Camp – Backs/Forwards. This coed camp accommodates various age groups as well, but enrollment is restricted to experienced players. The advanced camp takes the educational and athletic experience to the next level, with an emphasis placed on in-depth development of positional and unit specific skills. Providing campers with the time and coaching to really work on the latest skills, techniques, and concepts related specifically to forward and back play.

Held on Penn State’s exquisite athletic facilities, these full blown PSU Summer Sports Camps allow rugby athletes the very same opportunities and experiences that the attendees of any of the University’s 85 varsity sports camps receive.

Current and former players from both teams (including Eagles, All Americans, Super League an US Age Grade players) serve as coaches, and are a tremendous compliment to Penn State’s excellent coaching staffs and the many special invited guest coaches.

With a low player to coach ratio and a 4-5 day format, these Penn State Rugby camps truly provide campers with the attention and time needed to develop their skills, improve their understanding, and become better rugby players.
