The women’s team has an interesting weekend a head of them. We are a young team, and while we have a number of returning players, last years run to the Championship was unusual. Most years we are challenged on our way to the final 4. In 2000 we went to the round of 16 without a lot of fanfare. We just got past Marquette 10-3 in a brutal game in the round of 16. Then our backs caught fire against Airforce and we were on our way beating Stanford and Princeton (in a game that was closer than the 31-22 score suggests). In 2007 the team beat Ohio State in a pretty competitive round of 16 before playing Army. The Army game was a back and forth battle and they had a number of chances to win the game before we held on 17-12. So the question is how will this team react to adversity? We play Delaware on Saturday and need to win that game to head to Florida for the National Playoffs (if we lose we go to California). Then we probably will face Navy, the team that destroyed us in the fall 41-0. That will be the test we need to become a team.
