Both the women and men’s teams jumped right into intensive training upon returning to Penn State after the holidays. Practicing nearly 3 times a week in the indoor facility of Holuba Hall, the two teams are continuing to develop their patterns of attack and building on strong defensive techniques. While the fall was spent developing the teams and trying out new combinations of players, the spring season aims to perfect technique and kick up intensity and physicality.

The spring season is in progress and will be posted upon completion. However, the women’s team will start off their indoor season against Clarion on February 2nd at 7pm in Holuba Hall at Penn State. This game will be a test of new patterns of play and new combinations of players.

The women are also preparing for their spring break trip this year to Europe touring France, Belgium, and Holland. They will be leaving on February  28th to spend ten days in Europe playing women’s club and university teams while sight-seeing and exploring the rugby culture overseas. Flying in and out of Paris, the team will travel to the beaches of Normandy and learn more about the French involvement in WWII. Against the physically dominating teams in Europe, Penn State hopes to improve upon their team dynamic and add a new level of physicality to their own style of play.

There has also been confirmation that the women will join the men again in Philadelphia to play in the CRC 7s event the first weekend of June. Though this event is a few months a way, preparations will begin soon to establish a dominating sevens team.
